Case Study - Review Report For Nurseprose Website

A professional website review report for a resume writing website, designed to improve performance and boost profits.

Review Brief

Website: Nurse Prose

  • The main top visual is very impressive of course. An image of a beautiful woman always attracts attention and maintains interest. The problem, though, is the text's layout. On desktops, the text is too small, and the distance between the main headline and the subheader doesn't make sense. On mobiles, the font size of the headline and subheader is the same, which is wrong. also, the headline is not properly aligned with the subheader and the subheader has no space on the left.
  • The phrasing of the subheader is not good. I'd change it to: Let us revive your resume and optimize your career prospects with...
  • Placing 2 more text boxes over the visual with a large space between them (on desktops) is wrong and makes a bad impression. In my opinion you should drop the huge image of the nurse and use a smaller version. This way the top of the page will include the headline and subheader on the left, and the image on the right. On mobiles they will be on top of each other.
  • Keep in mind that these huge visuals slow down pages. I checked your page with Google's speed tool, and it received a low score of only 42/100!! Changing the layout, as I suggested, can improve the speed and make the page more effective.
  • The following 3 columns are fine, but the texts will have to be improved. For example, I'd drop the questions and use only confident statements. I mean, what's the point in asking if they need help with the resume? After all, the whole website is about helping with the resume. Instead, you can use confident statements like "we help experienced rn/lpn... to get ready for... practice.
  • Since you have a dedicated process page, I'd make the process scheme on the homepage much shorter. The purpose is to give visitors an idea of what to expect, not to provide information.
  • I'd take off the mission thing. It's an ancient feature that wastes your visitors' time. If you feel that you must include it, place it on the about us page. Definitely not on the homepage.
  • The page's footer looks a bit messy.
  • The process page looks like a basic Word document. I'd add a few design/image elements to make it look like a web page.
  • The resume samples page is a bit problematic. When users click on "samples", they expect to see samples. The disappointment may cause at least some of your visitors to leave the website! In my opinion you have 2 options: (a) Rename the link to "request samples". (b) Place one short sample on the page and offer them more samples by filling out the form.
  • By the way, don't "force" them to fill out their phone number. Name and email should be the only "required" fields.
  • On the menu, the about us link should be placed before the contact link.
  • About us pages are like company profile pages. They should not be about the service, but about the business. Things like when was the business established, team, facility, expertise, etc. So this page will have to be changed.
  • If you mention "our team", then you MUST provide names and even photos. Writing text about some 'great people' is not good enough and may damage your credibility.
